BMO Financial Group Senior Business Consultant, Capital Markets & Risk Infrastructure in Ontario, Canada



The Senior Business Consultant is accountable to gather, translate and integrate information to promote the effective operation of the Executive’s portfolio. This role will work with T&O Finance and the leadership team to provide financial/resource planning and forecasting support and provide recommendations to improve operational effectiveness and track objectives. The Senior Business Consultant is accountable to support the effective management of risk, including operational and compliance risk. This role will also ensure the development of effective, consistent communication for the Executive and for the leadership team for broad issues that impact the overall financial picture.



  • Provide support to the financial planning and forecasting process to identify strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats, and develop recommendations for plans to address.

  • Participate in the development and support of financial plans working with the leadership team; ensuring plans support the achievement of overall multi-year plan objectives and strategy.

  • Effectively monitor and control processes including, but not limited to:

  • Dev Spend and NIX

  • Cross charges

  • Resource plans/targets

  • Creation of IAAPs and Business Cases

  • Policy Exceptions

  • Contracts, Invoice & Purchase Order Management

  • Responsible M&S, BAC’s, Platform Currency & Forecasting

  • Amalgamate and analyze financial information to produce regular and adhoc reports.

  • Working with the leadership team and to develop and action recommendations.

Compliance/Risk Management

  • Monitor to ensure compliance with overall Bank regulatory policies and guidelines by confirming that all policies and procedures are put in place and adhered to. Escalate all incidents of non-compliance with recommendations to rectify.

  • Perform due diligence to ensure expenditures / accruals are supported by contracts and accurately reflected in dev plan actuals. Ensure governance requirements on all financials are met.

  • Direct the establishment internal processes and procedures to support stable, repeatable operations.

Leadership Support

  • Gather and integrate information from leadership and other T&O colleagues relative to key strategic and operational activities assessing, translating and providing recommended positioning ensuring alignment BMO directives and strategies, and integration with other T&O partners or initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with T&O partners applying corporate policies and clarifying procedures.

Managerial Leadership

  • Establish a two-way working relationship with the Business Strategy and Planning team members including coaching and training of more junior team members.


  • Develop and implement a 2-3 year financial work plan.

  • Review progress to plans, and develop, communicate, delegate and actively participate in the implementation of actions necessary to correct internal and external issues.

  • Develop, implement and review a plan to complete all assigned tasks in a timely manner to acceptable quality standards.




  • Possesses a university degree/college diploma (preferably of a financial nature CMA/CPA) and/or 12 years relevant work experience

  • Possesses broad/diverse knowledge in multiple areas of IT processes and roles/responsibilities (e.g. Project Management, Change Management, Business Analysis, Development)

  • Possesses solid financial/business management experience

  • Possesses experience in process creation and maintenance

  • Solid knowledge of the T&O & CTD organizations (i.e. the relations between different technology areas) and stays abreacts of the current organizational state
