Overview Hundreds of thousands of merchants across Canada use payment gateways and processors to provide the technology, products, and services necessary to accept credit and debit card payments. This role is the primary liaison for the payments processing relationship between American Express and a portfolio of major Canadian processors. Key partners in including Moneris Solutions, Global Payments, Chase Paymentech, TD Bank. Working directly with senior and C-level relationships, you will be responsible for ensuring that Processors are meeting and exceeding American Express policies and service standards when providing American Express processing services to merchants.
Responsibilities include – • Single Point of Contact for the overall payments processing relationship with Processors and Payment Gateways • Negotiate and manage agreements with Processors to ensure a high level of performance and service quality are delivered to merchants • Understanding the business objectives of the Processors, and identify opportunities to expand and improve the American Express payment experience for the Processor and Canadian merchant • Drive innovation in the marketplace by expanding the scope of American Express services offered to merchants through processors. Including; Contactless/NFC, tokenization, mobile payments, eCommerce , mPOS, and multi-currency processing services. • Manage a processor compliance regime to ensure partners are compliant with American Express policies and technical standards. • Built and execute against account management plans for a portfolio of major processors • Providing assistance in escalating and resolving complex payment processing issues • Collaborate with colleagues across various acquiring business lines and global regions to ensure alignment on multiple relationship touchpoints You will also need to partner and work closely with internal American Express local and international teams including other Relationship Managers, Product Managers, Technical Enablement Teams, Legal, Compliance, Account Management, and network & issuer teams to ensure alignment across all stakeholders

• Minimum 3 years experience in Canadian payment industry. Payments processing or merchant acquiring experience preferred • Strong relationship management and communication skills • Knowledge of Canadian Payment Processing Industry, including: Understanding of major players, VARs and POS vendors, business models, technologies, and operations • Technical aptitude with knowledge of payments ecosystem, payments technologies and standards (EMV, NFC, PCI) • Strong influencing and situational negotiation skills • Demonstrated experience presenting to and influencing senior level management • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong time management skills; entrepreneurial spirit and opportunistic mindset for new business opportunities • Background in sales, account management, or consulting an asset • University degree or equivalent combination of education and business experience. • Position in based in Toronto, ON • Some travel (less than 10%) required
