As the Senior Manager, Commercial Excellence you will work in close partnership with Senior Management Team, information technology, sales, marketing, strategic relationship management, and functions to lead the development and implementation of strategic commercial excellence programs, best practices, procedures and systems for the Baxter Canada commercial organization. You will lead the design and execution of enabling commercial processes, providing strategic and tactical programs focused on sales force capability and execution, process improvement and standardization. You will lead the business solution strategies including digital strategy, marketing and sales force tools that drive effective execution of commercial goals and provide enhanced services to Baxter customers. In addition, you will ensure workforce participation and capture benefits of deployed solutions and systems and lead and develop a high performing Commercial Excellence team.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Sales force effectiveness (SFE) and (SFDC):

  • Implement and continuously improve core sales force methodologies, practices and processes (i.e. opportunity management, sales activity) in alignment with businesses

  • I mplement and continuously improve marketing campaign tools in SFDC in alignment with businesses

  • I mplement and continuously improve SFDC process and tools for other client facing departments such as contracts and tender management group, and medical affairs

  • M anage Baxter system, adapt it to Baxter needs

  • Ensure high quality user experience, curate its content, measure and facilitate adoption by capturing organizational benefits of its use

  • Ensure the effective management of process change management, integrity of data, reporting and education; manage cost centre budget, forecast and expenses

    Baxter commercial execution methodology and process

  • Facilitate implementation of Baxter-wide commercial execution process that ensures clear monitoring of delivery of commercial objectives. Develop supporting process and SFDC tools to ensure adoption and success of the methodology.

    Customer facing digital strategy and execution

  • Facilitate prioritization, development and integration of a suite of digital tools to enhance Baxter effectiveness in managing information and communicating to its customer base. Tools include but are not limited to promotional document management system (i.e. Vablet), E-mail marketing, closed loop information gathering from marketing campaigns, Baxter professional website and resources, event management and feedback loops etc. Partnership with Information Technology and service platform owners on successful roll-outs.

  • Retention, support and development of team members

  • C ollaboration with senior management and functions as well as Baxter centers of excellence to enhance project delivery and benefits to the organization

  • University degree in commerce or technology


  • MBA

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in commercial excellence type roles with at least 5 years of experience in management positions

  • Strong project management and planning skills

  • Strong communication skills – ability to clearly communicate business strategies, technology solutions, measures of success and accountabilities

  • Sound knowledge of sales and marketing department processes gained through experience working within management in the sales & or marketing areas

  • Line management experience

  • High level of commercial acumen

  • Experience working within a matrix style reporting environment

  • Effective teamwork and collaboration with cross functional teams


  • Sound knowledge of commercial training environment

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, e.g. Business, Marketing, Sales, Information Technology
