The Strategic Sourcing Manager, Data & Analytics is accountable to design, development and implementation of data-driven analytics solutions with a focus on Procurement information. This role partners with analysts from the Productivity Strategies teams as well as Strategic Sourcing Managers to develop dashboards and tools based on user requirements. The Strategic Sourcing Manager, Data & Analytics will drive insight and awareness into BMO’s 3rd party expenses with a goal of driving sourcing strategies that result in cost savings opportunities for BMO. This role is an expert in presenting information through intuitive visualizations and has a strong background in analytics and problem solving.

Analytical Dashboard Solutions

  • Design, development and implementation of comprehensive and leading edge analytical solutions that deliver timely and accurate information that promotes user self-serve capabilities

  • Create awareness and understanding of BMO’s utilization of 3rd party suppliers in order to drive effective sourcing strategies based on the full enterprise scope of the products and services being provided.

  • Drive insight into 3rd party suppliers across 5 key dimensions: spend, contracts, engagements, risk and performance through effective visual-based dashboards and underlying capabilities.

  • Build comprehensive and simple tool-kits that seamlessly connect various disparate data sources by identifying common elements that enable side by side comparisons

Dashboard Roadmap / Relationship Management

  • Accountable to deliver an effective dashboard roadmap that identifies key enhancements/functionality based on user requirements.

  • Partner with Sourcing and productivity strategies colleagues to gather, interpret and plan dashboard enhancements and/or new capabilities into the broader roadmap.

  • Facilitate requirements gathering by balancing technical skills and expertise with sound business knowledge that ultimately connects a business problem with the right technical solution.

Visualization Templates & Standards

  • Design, development and implementation of visualization standards (colors, themes, look and feel) for Procurement dashboards.

  • Accountable to create and maintain Procurement visualization standards and templates to ensure a consistent “look and feel” user experience across all Procurement dashboards and toolkits

Qualifications:

Knowledge & Understanding:

  • University degree/college diploma (business, finance, supply chain, computer science, engineering)

  • 5-10 years working experience

  • Expert with dashboards, KPI, business metrics generation

  • Expert with Big Data Hadoop, BI, Tableau, Nimbus, Business Objects, ETL, SAS (Spotfire is a very strong asset)

  • Understanding of relational and dimensional database design methodologies and system design best practices

  • Knowledge and familiarity with data profiling, modeling, cleansing, enriching as well as extract, transform, load (ETL) solutions and scripting.

  • Data analytics and statistical analysis techniques – data mining, trend modeling, KPI, predictive analysis, etc.

  • In-depth knowledge on industry trends in “big data” and information management best practices

  • Thought leadership on analytical data visualizations and graphical based reporting presentment

  • Proficient with gathering requirements and translating business requirements into technical specification

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills including data mining and modeling

  • Strong background in analytical visualizations and building executive dashboards

  • Keen problem solver with strong motivation to impact positive results

  • Solid planning, execution and change management skills with the ability to influence effective change

  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills (facilitation and presentation skills)

  • Solid leadership skills with an ability to build and foster relationships across teams and functions
