Psychologists at Altum Health rehabilitative clinics spend their days working on a combination of assessments and treatments for a full range of clients. They put together broad spectrum treatment plans. At Altum, Psychologists work side-by-side with a team of cognitive behavioural therapists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, occupational therapists and surgeons. There are difficult cases that challenge us and there are sensitive cases that require a delicate touch. Every day there are clinical learning opportunities and teaching moments. As a part-time Bilingual Clinical Psychologist working at our full service clinic in Ottawa you will:
Conduct independent psychological assessments of clients referred to Altum Health from various sources and provide a diagnosis
Provide recommendations for further treatment as appropriate
Develop and communicate a treatment plan to the client, multidisciplinary team, other stakeholders and referral sources
Prepare documentation and formal narrative reports for the referral source
Treat clients and enable them to reach their full functional and work reintegration potential in collaboration with all stakeholders (client, treatment team etc.)
Participate in continuous quality improvement activities
Perform cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested
What we look for in a Clinical Psychologist:
A Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited programCompletion of APPI, CPA, or CCPPP accredited internship / residency programRegistration with College of Psychologists of Ontario
Competency in Clinical and Rehabilitation scopes of practice
Experience in all or some of the following areas:
rehabilitation with a third party payor system
assessment and intervention with acute (musculoskeletal) and chronic pain
assessment and intervention with mood and anxiety disorders, especially PTSD and phobias
intervention involving cognitive behavioural therapy, motivational interviewing, and other empirically supported modalities
A passionate and dedicated care team participant who is committed to the challenge of working with clients suffering from workplace injuries
A strong clinician who enjoys a collaborative approach to treatment plans for pain and mood disorders and who is eager to be part of a multi-disciplinary team
An autonomous practitioner who understands the detail required for insurance reporting and who is not deterred by mandatory processes
A strong communicator outside of the treatment sessions who is comfortable speaking with third-party/referral services and who has excellent report-writing skills
A lifelong learner who is highly conscientious and committed to a high quality of work and ongoing professional learning including identification and leading of new public health research projects
