Reporting to Production Manager, the Production Team Lead will be responsible for providing operational support and implementing process improvements pertaining to the production of simulator and simulator systems. The preferred candidate is a highly-motivated, result-orientated team player. This candidate should be an empowering team leader who is creative, capable of handling multiple tasks and is comfortable with assessing a situation to make decisions that support TRU/Textron policy, organizational goals and customer commitments. The candidate will have solid oral and written communications skills, and fulfill the role of a hands-on working leader. Required to cable and assemble different electrical components according to schematics.
• Manage personnel by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees • Coordinate daily production floor activities and delegate assignments to production personnel • Supervise the tasks for direct reports and ensure that deadlines are respected; • Ensure compliance with the production plan, product quality standards, company's policies and regulations as well as health and safety plan • Monitor and enforce safety policies across the assembly floor • Develop and maintain training to ensure that all personnel have the necessary skills to perform their duties safely and efficiently • Communicate clear expectations to production personnel • Maintain and update Safety/Quality/Delivery/Productivity board on a daily basis • Maintain material/workflow through the facility • Execute and enforce standard work day in production • Maintain a safe and clean work environment at all times by educating and directing personnel • Ensure equipment and tools are in good working order and available for use when required • Ensure that the equipment maintenance is scheduled and carried out to prevent unscheduled down time • Monitor and enforce work start, break, and stop times of the production personnel • Review and approve employee time cards on a daily basis • Review and complete production orders on a daily basis as per scheduled tasks • Conduct bi-annual performance evaluations for the direct reports • Address conflicts of interest and provide solutions • Lead the production floor personnel and maintain a positive work atmosphere • Investigate root cause and provide corrective actions that are required as a result of defects observed • Seek out to continuously and relentlessly reduce wasteful elements in factory operations to optimize production. • Identify and present improvement opportunities to management • Facilitate and/or lead continuous improvement efforts and activities • Makes recommendations to the Manager in regards to training, staffing, and capital equipment • Initiate the hiring process for vacant positions, provide job descriptions when required, interview candidates, and participate in the hiring process
Two (2) years minimum of leadership experience in a production environment Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) in a related domain minimum Strong supervisory and management skills, effective troubleshooting skills Strong leadership skills Ability to guide a team of eight to ten frontline production employees Ability to identify and resolve conflict in the team with director’s support Strong analytical, reasoning and organizational skills Excellent judgment and decision making abilities Ability to read and comprehend instructions, procedures, engineering drawings and specifications Strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations required Knowledge of standard work principles preferred Experience with quality control Proven training skills Knowledge of health and safety regulations Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment with little direction Basic computer skills Effective communication skills, both verbal and written in both official languages
