Weir Minerals Canada requires a Fitter/Fabricator to safely cut, fit and tack weld parts together as per blueprints, weld maps and drawings provided. Responsible to provide a quality fit up for the pressure welders to fully weld.


  • Cut, Fit and Layout Piping

  • Tack weld parts together in preparation for Pressure welding

  • Grind, bevel and prep joints

  • Ensure pieces conform to blueprints and weld maps

  • Ensure material and hours are captured and recorded


  • 3-month probationary review

  • Length of time taken to complete assigned tasks and/or paper work

Completion of High School. 5 years of new and repair welding experience. 5 years of Fabrication Experience. Journeyman status or equivalent experience.


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft windows and office products

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills:

Forklift license is an asset.
