Keystone Technical Resources Quality Engineer in Richmond, British Columbia

Our client, an Engineering and Manufacturing company based in Richmond, BC, has an immediate requirement for an experienced Quality Engineer.

The purpose of the role is to investigate production and warranty issues, implement containment and permanent corrective actions using production systems (Standardized work, 5S, PM), and manage all aspects of the Advanced Product Quality Planning process for new launches of our client's products.

  • Investigate manufacturing issues and implement effective containment actions as a result of detecting a non-conforming product.

  • Identify root-cause and correct manufacturing and warranty issues with a cross functional team using 8D methodology.

  • Responsible for all elements of the APQP process for new program launches and PPAP to the customer.

  • Integrate quality requirements in Standardized Work, 5S and PM. Support SW, 5S and PM implementation in production.

  • Improve capability of key processes.

  • Champion the corrective action process with a cross functional team using 8D methodology.

  • Perform root-cause scrap analysis and coordinate/implement actions to reduce scrap costs.

  • Provide quality inspection awareness training, when appropriate.

  • Develop sampling plans for statistically capable processes.

  • Complete additional job duties and assignments up to 15% of the time.

  • Quality Discipline Degree or Diploma; or, Mechanical Engineering Technology Certificate or equivalent.

  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.

  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint; and, the ability to learn other applications quickly.

  • Working knowledge of:

  • All APQP elements.

  • GD&T and dimensional metrology.

  • Working knowledge of GR&R and SPC.

  • Basic statistical skills (normal distribution, cpk, ppk).

  • Ability to utilize and implement Standardized Work, 5S and PM and tie in quality requirements.

  • Knowledgeable of various manufacturing processes (machining, mechanical assembly, welding, etc.).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a strong team.

  • Minimum of four years related practical experience.

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing/production industry would be an asset.
