Job Introduction

The Mold Setup Technician reports to the Molding Supervisor and is responsible for the set up of molds as per Polybrite’s set up instructions. He/she is also responsible for material handling, operating the crane, and abiding by all Polybrite Health & Safety procedures.

Major Responsibilities

Assists and performs changes to all molds, auxiliary equipment, raw materials and colors as required. Monitors machine operations to avoid mold and equipment damage. Troubleshoot equipment breakdown and help determine problems on injection machines and molds. Keeps mold and machinery clean and in good working order. Reports any tool/machine damage to Molding Supervisor. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results, as required. Evaluates inventory levels by checking stock levels and verifying receipts of materials and parts. Load and unload dryers. Ensures optimum operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. Sets-up all process parameters and starts up machinery per master run sheets. Responds to operator and Q.A. concerns, as required. Ensures the production of a good quality, at the best cycle time and correct part weight. Shares knowledge of equipment by training and coaching Assistant Set Up Technicians. Evaluates inventory levels by checking stock levels and verifying receipts of materials and parts. Comply with all Polybrite Health and Safety policies and procedures. Comply with all Polybrite ISO/TS16949 policies and procedures. Comply with all Polybrite ISO14001 policies and procedures. Perform any other reasonable request by management.

Knowledge and Education

Post secondary education. Certificate in Mold Set up preferred Forklift licence or have the ability to pass a test. Crane Slingers Licence or have the ability to pass a test. Engel robot programming. CMI, Clark Software, ISO 14001 and TS 16949 preferred.

Work Experience

3-5 years molding experience with the ability to effectively troubleshoot molding defects and issues.

Skills and Competencies

Basic to intermediate computer skills required with general knowledge of MS Office programs (Excel), Lotus Notes. Trans4M and Clark Software knowledge is preferred. Must be physically fit with excellent dexterity. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have hand finishing capabilities. Must have mechanical aptitude, with interpersonal and analytical abilities. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both reading and writing.

Work Environment

Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours at multiple manufacturing locations in the Richmond Hill area. This position is for night shift.
