Job Summary:

  • Responsible for development of manufacturing and packaging processes; Designing, executing, and evaluating trials to develop manufacturing/packaging processes; writing of scale up documents and study protocols; performing trouble shooting and problem solving during the development process; Providing technical support to experimental trials in order to evaluate changes in manufacturing and packaging processes; writing study/investigational reports and recommending solutions for challenges; Ensuring that all operations are performed in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Safe Work Practices (SWP), and all company policies and regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans, schedules and set priorities in a short term basis and adheres to long term goals set by senior staff.

  • Manufactures and packages scale up, stability batches and launch batches.

  • Attends to a broader range of activities with minimal direction and accurately estimates time required to complete each task.

  • Designs, executes and evaluates trials to develop manufacturing/packaging processes.

  • Writes documents for compounding and packaging of scale up batches.

  • Writes protocols for related studies.

  • Recommends amendments to department procedures, SOPs.

  • Performs trouble shooting and problem solving during the development of manufacturing and packaging processes.

  • Executes and provides technical support to experimental trials in order to evaluate changes in manufacturing and packaging processes.

  • Provides guidance and training less experienced team members.

  • Provides study/investigation reports and recommends solutions for challenges.

  • Liaise with internal customers at various levels to discuss technical issues, and acquire detail understanding of customers’ need in order to meet short-term and long-term deliverables.

  • Reviews and signs-off formal documentation.

  • Sets up and operates equipment.

  • Maintains equipment.

  • Works as a member of TO-NPL team to achieve all outcomes

  • Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements

  • All other duties as assigned

Technology/Instrumentation (type & complexity)

  • Able to understand chemistry of pharmaceutical ingredients and physical properties of packaging components.

  • Able to understand the mechanism of equipment in order to perform minor repairs or make recommendations.

  • Able to operate equipment.

  • Continual self-updates and maintains high proficiency level of new technology, process and equipment.

Experimental or Methodological Design (if applicable)

  • Designs, executes and evaluates trials to develop manufacturing/packaging processes.

  • Responsible and accountable for trouble shooting and resolving challenges during the manufacturing/packaging development processes.

  • Attends appropriate training, seminars and presentations to maintain expertise in development of manufacturing/packaging processes, equipment, pharmaceutical technologies, in related areas.

Compliance & Due Diligence

  • Ensures that all work is performed in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and established Safe Work Practices (SWP).

Job Requirements:

  • College/University Degree, in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Engineering, or related science.

  • Minimum of Four to Five years successful working experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical process and equipment.

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

  • Excellent organization, trouble shooting, and report writing skills.

  • Intermediate to advanced level of computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Well developed interpersonal and team skills.

  • Multi-tasking and project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and make responsible and accountable decisions.
