Examples include: disk, tape, optical, SAN, NAS, or storage software related to these technologies. Typical examples of the deliverables are building proof-of-concept solutions with storage system technology and architecting storage solutions to address client requirements. IT Specialists in this job role work with products or solutions based on any vendor hardware and/or any vendor operating system software. IT Specialists who primarily apply their technical skills in an internal or external customer billable services and implementation environment.Responsibilities:Key responsibilities include:

  • Installation, configuration, security, general operations and troubleshooting for the operating system to help supporting the SAN. Primary focus will be in the execution and delivery of new solutions on a commercial account. The candidate will be expected to participate in after-hours support to the account. In fulfilling these activities, the candidate will:

  • build and configure SAN devices to meet the needs of custom solutions;

  • communications to customers and internal teams to complete projects, change requests and resolving problems;

  • document issues using problem/change software and processes, as well as technical requirements, solutions and unit procedures;

  • contribute to the development of ongoing processes, procedures and offerings that continuously improve the service level and/or support to clients;

  • keep abreast, adapt and enhance your development to meet evolving client requirements and technological advances

You will be primarily working with Canadian Storage SAN team providing support to 19 domestic accounts

  • 7 years or more experience in the IBM Storage SAN

  • Experience in Local and Remote Data replication

  • Experience in SVC virtualization

  • Experience to support the following: SAN & Switches Management tools –

  • DS8xxx storage (DS8870), IBM FlashSytstems, XIV (Gen3), V7000 (Gen2), Software Defined Storage (SDS), Spectrum Virtualize (SVC), Thin Provisioning, Easy Tier, Real Time Compression (RTC), Intelligent ILM, DCS3700, Quantastor; SDS File & Block, SoftLayer Shared Object & NAS; iSCSI, IBM Legacy storage, i.e., Shark, DS5000, etc.

  • EMC DMX/Symmetrix/vMAX; ClariiON/VNX

  • Hitachi AMS/VSP/USP

  • Brocade Network Advisor (BNA), Inter switch link (ISL), FC routing

  • Configure SAN Switches, Gateways, Hubs

  • Coordinate the provisioning of SAN switch and storage hardware and perform configuration planning

  • Create and manage Server, SAN fabric and connectivity/compatibility matrix

  • Create, Manage SAN Fabric Port Assignments

  • Create, Manage SAN Zones

  • Create/Manage Logical Units (LUNs)

  • Manage zoning for tape storage drives, devices and libraries

  • Log and track all storage request activity from receipt of request through to completion

  • Plan, install, configure, customize and test and resolve new releases/versions/upgrades of switch and storage software/firmware and host server compatible software/firmware levels

  • Ensure SAN environments meet all audit and security requirements.

  • Respond to all audit and security requests and reports

  • Basic capacity data collection and reporting to: Communicate storage utilization information at regular intervals, Recommend configuration changes to optimize utilization of assets, Recommend resource utilization alternatives, Arrange for additional capacity when required and/or recommend corrective action to resolve SAN Storage capacity issues.

  • Interface with hardware/software vendors during system level problem resolution/escalation and coordinate all activities

  • Coordinate warranty repair or replacement service for hardware

  • Arrange for maintenance for services, cable, cable connections within SAN Fabric and storage

  • Arrange for storage hardware maintenance services including preventative maintenance (e.g. Running standard diagnostics, cleaning machines, checking cables and ports), corrective maintenance to remedy problems, and scheduled maintenance to maintain the hardware in accordance with manufacturers specifications and warranties

  • Arrange for de-installation of system hardware components, switches and capacity

  • AIX/Linux/UNIX

  • Must be prepared to work within a team on a standby roster for 24x7X365 support of customer systems

  • Will be expected to perform some out of hours work in order to support customer changes

  • Non-Operations Resources are expected to work prime Canada Shift (M-F 8AM-5PM EST)

  • Perform off-hours maintenance at any time

  • Problem solving ability

  • Ability to create and modify Operating Procedures

  • Maintain Logs and Daily Outage Reports

  • Professional written and verbal English skills

  • Daily on-site presence is required in Saint John or Florenceville (potential alternate site)
