AREVA Geologist in Training (Temp) in Saskatchewan, Canada
Reporting to the Project Geologist and the District Geologist, this position is responsible for the following duties:
R ** esponsibilities include: *
Complies with all AREVA health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures.
Works on any designated AREVA exploration project(s), in accordance with the Project Geologist and/or the District Geologist.
Collects and interprets field data primarily related to the logging of drill core,
Enters data in project database,
Assist with daily core handling functions (measuring, sampling, photography, etc.),
Assist or complete down hole probing data acquisition,
Provides as required written / oral presentation of results: maps, sections, tables, etc,
May be required to assist the Project Geologist in supervision of geo-technicians.
Must be fully aware of his role and responsibilities as defined in the ISO 14001 Core Procedures and support files. Will comply with the AREVA Resources Canada Inc. Exploration Department Environmental Policy.
Will comply with the health, safety, radiation protection standards in force at AREVA Resources Canada Inc; will enforce them with Exploration workers and contractors, as applicable.
Skills and Q * u * alifications for the position include: *
University graduation in geology (B.Sc., M.Sc.).
Solid background in geology, structural geology, and geochemistry.
Experience in uranium exploration is an asset.
Good computer skills are essential.
Good communication skills.
Must understand geology of prospects and deposits.
Must be discovery oriented / motivated.
Be scientific and logical, able to summarize large amount of data.
Good decision making abilities.
Excellent social skills, prepared and physically able to work in difficult and isolated conditions.
Work Location & Schedule: *
Saskatoon Corporate Office
Up to several months of the year in isolated exploration camps or mine sites on a three week in and one week out field rotation.
