Dynacare Medical Laboratory Technician in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Our Saskatoon Team is currently looking for a casual/on-call Medical Laboratory Assistant to join their team. The successful individual will be required to work variable shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for excellent customer service and the accurate collections and processing of specimens for LHSCs in Saskatoon.

  • Performs phlebotomy as part of regular duties.

  • Responsible for the preparation of samples and/or reagents for routine processing

  • Performs simple non-interpretive tests under minimal supervision.

  • Ensures quality control checks and standards are run as required.

  • Participates in all quality assurance programs and ensures company guidelines are observed.

  • Performs routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as appropriate.

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program, with specialized training in phlebotomy.

  • Demonstrated skill in phlebotomy and ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming and reassuring manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to data enter information accurately and efficiently with advanced ability to proof-read, identify and correct errors.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and self-manage in a deadline oriented.

  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables you to communicate instructions, clearly and understandably, to patients.
