Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Geology, the Geological Engineer should be familiar with the basic concepts of Sedimentary/evaporate deposits, soft rock mechanics, bolting in a soft rock media, geophysical techniques (seismic and ground penetrating radar) and geochemistry. They will provide technical knowledge and support for safe efficient production.

Key Tasks:

  • Act as a strong safety leader and with minimal supervision in all aspects of the underground potash operation.

  • Install, read and reconcile closure and stability monitoring sites throughout critical areas of the mine. This would also include preliminary assessment of the data with any areas of concern noted to senior engineering personnel.

  • Support ground Control Management Plan, PSM and Life Critical Ground program with conducting regular bolting audits, monthly ground checks, test hole monitoring and documenting.

  • Brine and ore (chevron and channel) sampling.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor degree in Geological Engineering

  • Eng designation or the ability to register in the Engineer in training program or with APEGS

  • Potash Mining experience

  • Experience with SAP, MS Word, Excel, ArcGIS and mining software such as Vulcan and GoCAD
