We are currently seeking a-Unit Managerto work in one of the Chartwells accounts.-This position will report to the District Manager and supervise unionized associates in a multi-unit food service operation.

Now, if you were to come on board as one of ourUnit Managers, we-d ask you to do the following for us in your leadership role:

  • Ensure the nutritional and therapeutic requirements of the residents are met through menu planning, the development of standardized recipes, and production sheets.

  • Monitor and evaluate meal preparation and service to ensure established standards are maintained for both quality and quantity of all meals and snacks.

  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of resident preferences and incorporate these preferences into service delivery.

  • Ensure all quality controls are met for every product served to residents and guests.

  • Order all products in accordance with buying specifications.

  • Maintain inventory control and reporting as per fiscal schedule.

  • Schedule, hire, train, performance manage and discipline all support service staff.

  • Build and maintain a strong Support Service Team.

  • Implement and control the Food Safety Plan as well as HACCP, WHMIS, and all WCB regulations for a safe work place.

  • Liaise, attend and be part of meetings and functions with the on-site client as needed.

  • Train Support Service staff in daily duties as well as proper safety procedures as set by in house client, company and government regulations.

  • Attend and be part of Resident Council as requested by the client.

  • Facilitate ongoing communication with all stakeholders in the health care unit including administration, nursing, residents and their families.

  • Maintain orderly and complete administrative and personnel files.

  • Complete payroll, period summaries, operations reports and sales reports in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Prepare menus for daily service as well as special functions.

  • Maintain appropriate budgetary and cost controls.

  • Work with the Recreation department, to develop and assist in the implementation of special events.

  • Develop and implement a cleaning schedule for the food services departments, including maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment, general cleaning of the dining room and kitchen.

  • Implement and control a good rotation policy for all food and paper products.

  • Implement and manage the Quality Assurance program as outlined by the company and the client, including weekly and monthly audits.

  • Five years of management experience in healthcare.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Proficient using MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
