Amec Foster Wheeler (Nuclear Canada) is an engineering, nuclear safety and technical analysis company. We provide specialized services primarily to the power generation industry. Our work involves design engineering in all disciplines and performing safety and engineering analyses using state-of-the-art engineering and analysis software and interfacing with other engineering disciplines. Staff provide technical support to operating nuclear plants.

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Site Estimator with extensive experience in the Nuclear industry.

Estimator willl be responsible for preparing and coordinating cost estimates for Nuclear projects from conceptual design through planning and EPCM. Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing good working relationships with staff, engineering discipline leads, department and project managers and clients

  • Appreciating and understanding client’s needs to provide quality service and earn additional business through proactive relationship building

  • Developing and maintaining construction strategies, cost estimates and schedules in support of engineering, planning, and consulting projects

  • Obtaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure output uses up-to-date costs and productivities

  • Creating and maintaining cost estimating database and appropriate documentation to support cost and schedule preparation and review

  • Preparing capital and operating cost estimates to support studies ranging from order of magnitude to detailed feasibility for mining and/or materials handling projects

  • Integrating schedules and cost estimates to produce realistic spending schedules

  • Ensuring output of resources is completed on time, on budget, and exceeding quality standards

  • Estimate productivities, equipment and manpower cost

  • Preparing estimate plans and basis of estimate and conducting estimate reviews with clients

  • Mentoring and training of junior Amec Foster Wheeler personnel to become more prepared to take on additional roles and responsibilities

  • Regular travel will be required, domestic and abroad, providing on-site and inter-office support services

  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years professional experience in small to large scale projects with a focus on development and construction.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in estimating

  • Graduate degree, or equivalent technical diploma, in engineering or engineering technology combined with a specialty in estimating and scheduling

  • Proven experience in underground mining and infrastructure as well as associated processes and knowledge of various underground mining methods

  • Experience with construction or estimating of shaft sinking or other heavy civil works

  • Experience with Microsoft Project, P6 or other underground scheduling packages is considered an asset
