Working here is your opportunity to shape an industry that’s vital to us all.Job SummaryReporting to the VP, Professional Services, the Manager - Specialty/ Expert Category, Professional Services, is responsible for understanding the specialty market in different provinces and be the subject matter expert in providing banner members with unique professional programs and tools to help patient acquisition and physician outreach in targeted therapeutic areas.This role will require the individual to have a strong understanding of the pharmacy landscape across the country and provincial legislations and reimbursement models of specialty prescriptions. It will require the individual to partner with healthcare providers/ physician network in different markets promote banner members providing specialty care, including doctor detailing of the specialty care offerings by the banner member. This individual will need to have a strong understanding of the third party payers and opportunities for a preferred provider network. This role also requires the individual to be an expert in specific disease states and be able to develop programs and content for training in these expert categories. Explore opportunities to maximize revenue by partnering with category management team with respect to product selection/ mix.This role must work closely with the Pharmacy Services and Retail Operations team to train, develop, and deploy fully integrated specialty/ expert category solutions.Specific Responsibilities• Subject matter expert on specialty products, disease states, treatments.• Develop specialty programs around various disease state collaborating with vendors. Explore opportunities for a revenue based model. • Have affiliations with associations to remain current in professional practice.• Build relationships with vendors, business partners, governments, third parties, professional associations, pharmacy regulatory bodies and other key industry stakeholders to aid in promoting, developing and supporting McKesson Canada’s retail banners’ offering as it relates to Specialty programs.• Lead educational programs in expert categories and work in conjunction with the training department.• Plan , design and implementation of strategic projects that optimize McKesson’s competitive position in the Speciality space.• Acts as thought leader and participates in strategic discussions on Specialty.• Defines approach and delivers insights on programs after synthesizing the industry needs.• Create measurement tools to measure/ monitor success of programs.• Expand and develop the specialty healthcare provider network and work in collaboration with the Specialty group and their physician network. • Own the expert category development for the pharmacies (pain, skin, digestive health etc.) including training, product mix/ selection and product development.• Partner with category management team to explore opportunities to develop Atoma products for these categories. Qualifications
Key Requirements • Specialty pharmacy/ products subject matter expert with an excellent understanding of retail pharmacy business in Canada• Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree or PharmD or MD• 10 years + experience in expert categories/ disease states and product knowledge• Develop specialty program and build training content. • Deliver training to key audience.• Able to liaise with other healthcare providers to help drive the specialty business • Strong pharmacy business acumen and have a good understanding of the independent pharmacy model.• Experience with setting strategy and tactical execution• Strong leadership and mentorship skills• Strong analytical and research skills• Well-refined interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in a cross-functional environment• Superior communication skills both verbal and written• Travel will be required
