Colgate-Palmolive Company invites applications to the Oral Care Consultant position in our Southwest Ontario territory. The territory includes areas within the parameters of Kitchener Waterloo, St-Catharines and Windsor with a central location being in the London area. The purpose of this position is to strengthen the scientific image of Colgate with practicing dental professionals (Dentists and Hygienists) and build trusting, long term relationships with them. This position is responsible for influencing dental professionals to use Colgate oral care products and to actively recommend them to their patients. The Oral Care Consultant will achieve targeted Brand Recommendation and Account Sales KPIs that align with territory and national goals.

Specific Responsibilities:

Develop and support the partnership between Colgate and a group of accounts in an assigned territory:

Develop a strong professional relationship and rapport with dental professionals and staff;

  • Develop and execute detailing plans to drive increased product usage, recommendations (Brand Recommended Most Often) and sales within existing and new accounts, based on business objectives;

  • Monitor the performance of the territory and accounts and seek to identify any new opportunities or close gaps/implement remedial action to achieve target metrics;

  • Professional calls:

  • Identify targets and meet with the key decision makers and influencers within the account;

  • Employ a professional detailing and selling approach including call planning, access to dental professionals, active listening and questioning, communicating scientific credibility, demonstrating and sampling, getting commitment, follow-up, and detailed call reporting;

  • Provide solutions that address the needs of patients and dental professionals using a consultative/science-based approach, to drive recommendations and/or sales;

  • Deliver professional sales support as needed to achieve agreed objectives;

  • Represent Colgate in professional events/conferences and other major promotional events (including some weekends and domestic travel).


Bachelor's degree is required OR Diploma in dental hygiene or dental assisting with 2+ years in practice, as well as 2-3 years experience in selling/detailing, managing an outside sales geography is required.

  • Minimum 2 years territory management or account responsibility and/or minimum 2 years dental experience or similar professional industry.

  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft applications.

  • Holder of a current motor vehicle license.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestic (overnight), some travel to the US (requires a valid passport).
