FlightSafety International Director of Maintenance Training (Toronto) in Toronto, Ontario
The Director of Maintenance Training (DOMT) is responsible for the operation of the Maintenance (Mx) Training Programs within the Learning Center, by performing the following duties:
High school diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency (G.E.D. - demonstrated satisfactory performance in the General Educational Development Testing Program) with two to three (2-3) years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience could be in either a civilian or military environment. Higher level of formal education (Associates [A.A.] or Bachelor’s Degree [B.A. or B.S.] will be given greater preference at time of recruitment.
Minimum of five (5) years’ Mx and aircraft Mx Training experience, and two (2) years’ supervisory experience, required.
Airframe & Powerplant (A&P;) Technician Certificate, required.
Ensure governmental regulations & company policies/procedures relating to MX Training are followed
Establish goals & objectives for MX training compatible with standards & company policies. Develop short and long term training plans
Approve MX Training program materials to ensure program quality and currency
Coordinate with the “Lead” Center in formulating & standardizing the “Satellite” Center training program
Measure Customer’s training progress utilizing objective methods
Monitor effectiveness of MX Training programs & activities. Perform course evaluations to ensure effectiveness & standardization. Take action(s) to improve programs assuring highest quality programs
Coordinate resources necessary to conduct MX Training & communication with Customers
Manage Customer MX Training activities including training, equipment, scheduling, & documentation
Evaluate new-hire MX Instructors at completion of training & qualification phases to certify them qualified to instruct. Maintain records of MX Instructor training, qualification, and currency
Act as MX Instructor, as required.
Conduct periodic Instructor meetings communicating policies, procedures, and unique Customer training issues
Provide resources to MX Instructors for Customer training and assure compliance with specific Customer training requirements
Interact with MX Instructors on Customer training issues (poor performance, Customer/Instructor conflicts, excessive tardiness, etc.)
Interact with Center Manager concerning Customer training, scheduling, & documentation, Simulator & other equipment status, & Instructor scheduling
Interact with Operations Functional Group and other Learning Center Directors of MX Training (DOMTs) to identify common problems, discuss successful solutions, and promote efficient Center operations
Maintain liaison with aircraft manufacturers; in MX Training matters involving the manufacturer's aviation and MX association
Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read and write
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations
A second language may be helpful in some Learning Centers, to meet particular needs.
General knowledge of the following software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook
Database: - MS Access, preferred
Other software programs may be required, as needed.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Participate in Learning Center Safety Management System (SMS) activities including: supporting and promoting the safety culture, reporting all aviation safety-related issues via the feedback system, and adhering to the processes related to accomplishing SMS goals.
