Director, Regulatory Advisory Office
The Director, Regulatory Advisory Office is a member of the Corporate Compliance Leadership team. The Director will act as a primary point of contact for OLG’s regulators (other than FINTRAC). To ensure that communication with regulators occurs in a consistent and efficient manner the Director and Regulatory Advisory Office will create policies and procedures related to OLG’s interaction with regulators and will monitor and track significant commitments made to regulators. The Director will also be responsible for providing advice on regulatory issues, tracking new regulatory requirements and advising on defences to possible regulatory sanctions.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
Provide regulatory and policy related advice, leadership and strategic direction to ensure that OLG has a strong framework for dealing with regulators.
Manage regulatory audits and examinations and analyze audit findings and trends to anticipate areas of concern in other businesses or units.
React to rapidly changing events and formulate strategy to protect OLG’s brand.
Lead the development, drafting, approval, maintenance and governance of enterprise policies related to the interaction of OLG with its regulators (other than FINTRAC) and policies related to other regulatory obligations that apply to multiple businesses / corporate areas.
Direct the manner in which OLG manages its compliance with AGCO Standards including documenting the process for creating and amending control activities.
Draft and coordinate the approval of correspondence, presentations and formal policy submissions to regulators.
Develop an efficient mechanism for coordinating with regulators, sharing information and monitoring the representations and commitments made by OLG to its regulators.
Design and implement policies and procedures for managing regulatory audits and examinations. Coordinate these activities with those of Audit Services.
Provide regulatory advice across OLG related to regulatory requirements arising from legislation impacting OLG’s business.
Oversee the monitoring, research and analysis of new or changing regulatory obligations including emerging regulatory issues that may impact OLG.
Provide calm considered advice in crisis management situations by identifying regulatory implications and advising on recommended solutions.
Discuss OLG regulatory compliance approaches and strategies with regulators to obtain feedback and insight, as required.
Preference for candidates qualified to practice law in Ontario, though candidates with relevant related Bachelor / Master’s Degree in business, public administration or risk will be considered.
8+ years of management experience preferably within a regulated environment.
Knowledge of the regulatory environment in which OLG operates (the Gaming Control Act, AGCO Standards, PCMLTFA, FIPPA, FLSA, and CASL) would be an asset.
Knowledge and experience in interpreting and making recommendations regarding laws and regulations.
Experience in developing / disseminating policies and procedures.
Experience in managing relationships with regulators.
Understanding of lottery and gaming industry preferred.
Strong leadership experience and managing teams undergoing transformation
