Field Service Technician - Toronto, ON (YYZ Airport) Canada

System One is currently hiring for a Field Service Technician located at the Toronto Pearson International Airport & surrounding airports. The Field Service Technician (FST) is responsible for providing compliant, effective and efficient on-site technical and customer support for installed systems at assigned airports, as determined by the Company’s needs, while maintaining a safe working environment. The FST may also be required to work at other airports for extended periods and to travel to remote airports to support company equipment and/or equipment from other suppliers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing technical and customer support for installed CTX systems and related projects

  • Perform monthly PM service, radiation surveys, install, maintain, troubleshoot and assist other FST's in corrective maintenance actions of Explosive Detection Equipment (ETD) at customer locations

  • Follow Company published checklists in performing preventative maintenance and service

  • Prepare reparable parts for shipment and return to depot and complete all RMA and document reporting requirements

  • Properly track and record the use of PM/CM consumable and the return of repairable parts (RMA).

  • Complete all customer required Return to Service (RTS) procedures & documentation in a timely manner

  • Maintain excellent customer relations, professionally representing Morpho Detection

  • Will use Proprietary software only to report all field work activity

  • When on shift or On Call be ready to provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of airport security equipment and performs scheduled maintenance or repairs of airport security equipment

  • Follow standard procedures to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Report design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to technical support

  • Work on complex problems where analysis of data requires an evaluation of identifiable factors

  • Work with various OEM second level support technicians

  • Acquire and submit monthly equipment performance reports

  • Assume responsibility for continued customer satisfaction, and coordinates all activities with the customer while representing company in a professional manner

  • Must be proficient in reporting activities, maintaining local spare parts inventory, recording travel expenses and time card, implement Field Service Bulletins (FSB), maintain customer log books, and use sound judgment when dealing with customers

  • Compliance with all safety requirements, which includes, but is not limited to, completing all required training, following the guidance provided in company policies, procedures, manuals and Technical Advisories, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), applying Lock Out – Tag Out (LOTO), following safe lifting practices and “same day” reporting of any accidents, “near misses” and unsafe conditions. Demonstrates a pro-active approach towards safety, health, and quality in compliance with all company, governmental and customer regulations

  • Maintain tools and test equipment properly and ensuring they are calibrated

  • Participate in on-going product training and to maintain all necessary certifications

  • Perform other tasks, duties and assignments as required

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in field service on electromechanical equipment, recent Tech School graduate or equivalent work experience

  • Requires formal electronic, mechanical vocational training or equivalent experience

  • Computer experience is required; Windows, UNIX

  • Workable knowledge of applications such as Word and Excel

  • Must have good communication skills and understand the value of excellent customer service

  • Must be able to work effectively and communicate well in stressful situations

  • Must be able to work within a team and alone to resolve complex service issues.

  • Must be self-starter, work well without supervision, and accept responsibility

  • Must be willing to accept and be adaptable to changing shifts and job requirements based upon the needs of the business and the customers

  • Maintain professional appearance as prescribed by the Company

  • Must be able to travel both domestic and international and have current unrestricted passport.

  • Must be willing to work on-call and off-shift as assigned and requested by manager or supervisor

  • Must be willing to work emergency support as needed and perform on-call responsibilities per specified schedule or as otherwise prescribed by manager or supervisor

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs with repetitive bending

  • The candidate must be able to push/pull 200 lbs

  • The candidate must be able to move/ manipulate equipment weighing up to 1000 lbs with the assistance of carts, hoists, davit cranes, pallet jacks or other devices as defined in the manuals and Technical Advisory documentation

  • Job requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility

  • Must be able to work and freely navigate in the baggage area of the airport, where vertical ladders, crossovers, and low overhead ceilings frequently occur

  • Must be able to work safely and follow safety precautions in extreme environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces, etc.) around dangerous industrial equipment

Job Requirements:

  • Must have safe, insured personal auto transportation to and from the workplace

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process

  • Must be willing to submit to and cooperate with a background investigation (corporate and/ or government) as part of the selection process, and continued employment is dependent upon maintaining a current approved (‘passed') background investigation

  • Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment medical evaluation as well as follow-up medical evaluations while employed to ensure employees ability to safely perform all necessary task

  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in Canada, and travel abroad

  • Must be able to obtain security clearance at multiple airports within Canada
