Sofina Foods Inc. Food Safety Program Assistant in Toronto, Ontario

6 Month Contract

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Food Safety, the Food Safety Program Assistant would be responsible for collecting all supplier, co-packer, grocery and service provider program documentation required for BRC certification and CFIA requirements and uploading to SharePoint.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Prepare documents for uploading by renaming the document, adding supplier name, Sofina code, ingredient name and date;

  • Upload all documents to SharePoint including (but not limited to) product specification sheets, nutritional sheets, gluten checklists, country of origin sheets, beef supplier documents, etc.;

  • Contact all suppliers to provide explanation of lot code system for incoming materials and prepare visual interpretation for use at plant level. Upload lot code interpretation information to SharePoint;

  • Obtain all service agreement letters from Sofina plants and upload documents to SharePoint;

  • Contact all Food Contact Material & Packaging suppliers to request Food Contact Material and Packaging Supplier approval documents including questionnaire, specification sheets, etc. Prepare and upload all documents to SharePoint;

  • Record all ingredients onto the Food Fraud Matrix;

  • Review all grocery imports against current documentation records. Identify and work to securing missing information. Prepare and upload documents to SharePoint;

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • College diploma in food science or a related field;

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, strong attention to detail and analytical skills;

  • Organizational skills and the strong ability to multi-task.
