Toronto Health Economics and Technology Assessment Collaborative (THETA) at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute (TGRI), University Health Network (UHN)
THETA Collaborative is a multidisciplinary research group within TGRI. Providing decision support in health technology assessment to various levels of government and governmental organizations, as well as design, implementation and evaluation of complex health interventions are some of our mandates. We are located at the Toronto General Hospital in the heart of the Discovery District of Toronto.
We are seeking to expand our team with the appointment of an experienced health economist who will be responsible for leading both applied and methodological research projects at THETA. The initial project will be in the area of hepatitis C virus (HCV), where we aim to use economic modelling techniques to project the health and economic burden of the disease over the next decade.
We are looking for someone with a strong track record in quantitative methods in health economics research, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the capacity to obtain competitive grant funding.
Conceptualize advanced study protocols and develop applied economic evaluations and decision modeling studies employing state-of-the-art techniques.
Develop methodological research to advance the scientific discipline of health technology assessment.
Act as a scientific advisor and provide methodological support to clinicians, pharmacists, researchers and health policy decision makers within the THETA Collaborative.
Communicate findings in reports, peer-reviewed publications, THETA Rounds, and scientific conferences.
Manage the assigned project and assist in the supervision of graduate students, summer students, and/or students on research electives.
PhD or a Master’s degree, ideally in health economics, applied economics, or a related discipline.
Several years of experience in any of the fields mentioned above.
High-level expertise and training in decision modeling and health economics.
Experience in complex decision modeling, publication, grant submission, policy applications, and consulting applications are essential.
Understanding of HCV and medical terminology will be strong assets.
