Hours: 37.5 Hours/Week; SHIFTS: DAYS 845-445, 9-5 OR 10-6

Status: Permanent Full-Time

The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre has 12 site groups and 26 specialty clinics, and almost 3,000 staff who see over 400,000 patient visits every year. Its 800,000 square feet house 130 inpatient beds, 373,000 square feet of research space and 17 radiation treatment machines, makes it one of the largest comprehensive cancer treatment facilities in the world and the largest radiation treatment centre in Canada.

As an integral member of the interprofessional team, the site based Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) acts as a resource and co-leader for the interprofessional disease site team(s). The PCC has clinical and leadership expertise. The principal responsibilities within the site(s) include: direct practice (% of time depends on site priorities), performing financial/administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective site operation; contributing to staff development by promoting and ensuring a supportive/collaborative learning environment within the service(s)/cluster area based on the principles of adult learning and practice standards for nurses, students and ancillary staff; performing human resources responsibilities in collaboration with the ambulatory nurse manager; liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high standards of quality and optimal management of patient care outcomes (including data collection/reporting) and ongoing continuous improvement practices to strengthen clinic processes. The PCC will be reporting to the Manager of Ambulatory Care and work closely day-to-day with the physician site lead.


  • At minimum, a completion of BScN Baccalaureate in Nursing or Baccalaureate level education with Diploma in Nursing required

  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Nursing preferred

  • Basic Cardiac life Support (B.C.L.S.) program

  • Three (3) years nursing experience, including experience as required by area of responsibility and experience working in a supervisory capacity

  • Current certificate of competency (licensure) from the College of Nurses of Ontario required

  • Demonstrates membership within a professional nursing association and/or nursing interest groups related to practice

  • Demonstrated strong leadership and motivational skills

  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities

  • Excellent skills in recognizing, analyzing and resolving problems

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills

  • Clinical and patient teaching skills

  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards

  • Maintains and protects patient confidentiality in accordance with UHN Confidentiality policy requirements
