Position: Quality Assurance and Project Coordinator

Department: Animal Resource Centre (ARC)

Reports to: Senior Director

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; 7 am 3 pm

Status: Permanent Full-Time

Reporting to the Senior Director of Animal Resources Centre at University Health Network, the ARC Quality Assurance and Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of assigned Facility, Regulatory and Scientific projects at the Animal Resources Centre (ARC). This position requires coordination and liaising with senior ARC staff including, Site Supervisors, Senior Manager and Clinical & QA Veterinarians as well as Principal Investigators, laboratory staff, UHN staff, vendors, external service providers and clients.

The ARC Quality Assurance and Project Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and delivering to completion ARC development projects that may include renovations or new building projects, assisting with quality assurance. Primarily projects will focus on physical plant development but not exclusively; other projects maybe around model development for UHN Researchers utilizing ARC facilities or as assigned by the Senior Director ARC. Other responsibilities include assisting with planning, performing and reporting quality audits of research sites or programs and supporting research quality initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum, completion of a two (2) year community college program in a veterinarian field or

recognized equivalent

  • At minimum five (5) years as a Veterinary Technician required; experience withing a lab setting required

  • Experience teaching animal handling preferred

  • Project Management experience required

  • Experience overseeing staff, carrying out task assignment in a team leader or similar role

  • Completion of Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education or recognized equivalent preferred

  • One year experience teaching adult learners/training development preferred

  • Training certification and/or technical writing

  • Registered Laboratory Animal Technician with CALAS (Canadian Association of Laboratory

Animal Science)

  • Registered Master Laboratory Animal Technician with CALAS preferred
