Position: Research Analyst I

Site: Toronto General Hospital/Research Institute

Reports to: Principal Investigator

Hours: 35 hour per week

Status: Temporary Full-time (1 year with possible extension)

Working under supervision of senior staff, the Research Analyst I exercises judgment and decision-making in utilizing established policies and procedures to complete well defined tasks. This may include: conducting telephone and/or clinical recruitment interviews to collect participant data using established criteria; providing detailed notes of all interactions with participants and translating the information to appropriate systems; obtaining medical data on research subjects from registries or other hospitals; coordinating necessary data flow with collaborators from other sites; participating in qualitative analysis of data collected from patients; assisting in the interpretation of results and the preparation of material for presentation, publication and/or grants and carrying out literature searches; assisting in developing a novel telemedicine outreach program for community physician, and performing other duties consistent with job classification, as requested.

Qualifications

  • At minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in related field required

  • A minimum of 1 year related experience

  • Experience with patient recruitment and data collection; qualitative research experience including conducting interviews

  • Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment

  • Detail oriented with excellent organization skills

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work as part of an inter-professional team

  • Comfortable with learning new systems quickly and efficiently

  • Flexibility and willingness to learn

  • Medical or scientific knowledge preferred
