Position: Research Analyst I

Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre

Department: Radiation Oncology

Reports to: Hiring Manager

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and consistent with the University Health Network compensation policy

Hours: 35 hours per week

Status: Permanent Full-Time

We are seeking a self-directed and highly motivated individual to work in the Radiation Medicine Program (RMP), joining our team of clinicians, scientists and support personnel as a Research Analyst I. This position is primarily a research administrative role. The ideal candidate must have an aptitude for numbers, possess good data storage and reporting skills and be detail oriented with the capacity to prioritize, plan, and organize their work. Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications is preferred. This position seeks someone who can multitask between multiple competing duties, must work well independently while also contributing as an effective team player, and with an interest in advancing skills as required.

The individual will be responsible for conducting a range of activities, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Reporting to the Radiation Medicine Program

  • Organize and maintain CVs of Radiation Oncologists and other related staff using Common CV program

  • Assist with the compilation of Radiation Oncologists’ Non-Clinical Activity Reports

  • Applies general research principles, concepts and techniques relating to data collection and management to perform well-defined tasks and analyses

Utilize advanced functions to provide word processing services to facilitate the production of complex documents/materials

  • Help to implement, coordinate and support a mentorship program with the University of Toronto Department of Medicine, to assist RMP faculty with career development to improve employee satisfaction and productivity

Provide data and administrative support to the Accelerated Education Program, compiling evaluation and statistical analysis

  • Liaise with other administrative staff on various related activities

  • Perform cross-functional responsibilities and other duties, as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent relevant experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience

  • Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications, preferred including Endnote Reference Manager

  • Strong understanding of radiation and medical oncology practices; command of medical terminology

  • Meticulous work ethic and attention to detail, with excellent time-management and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage competing demands of short and long-term projects led by numerous individuals, directing multiple varied assignments, independently coordinating and prioritizing relevant projects, tasks and responsibilities

  • Highly motivated and adaptable with an ability to take initiative and work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Understanding of the process of conducting a literature searches, with an aptitude to learn

  • Special talent for researching and analyzing data effectively and conducting literature searches

  • Ability to produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment is an asset
