The Kridel lab is a new lab based at the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Tower in the Discovery District, Toronto. We have an interest in translational research in the field of mature lymphoid malignancies, with a particular focus on B-cell lymphoma. We will study scenarios that are associated with poor outcome, including early progression after treatment, transformation to aggressive lymphoma and relapse in the central nervous system. We will apply cutting-edge technology to primary patient samples to unravel tumour heterogeneity and to develop novel, innovative biomarkers to predict outcome in lymphoma. Furthermore, we will leverage novel findings from discovery platforms to elucidate mechanism of lymphoma pathogenesis and treatment resistance. Our ultimate goal is to improve patient outcomes through a better understanding of the diversity of responses to treatment and by tailoring therapy to each individual patient.
Responsibilities may include: utilizing practical and theoretical knowledge to perform laboratory procedures and functions, Compiling data from related and/or unrelated sources; Performing moderately complex analyses; Interpreting test results and experiments; Determines next phase of testing/experimentation, identifying appropriate protocol and techniques; Communicating and maintaining records of experimental data; Monitoring and maintaining lab chemical/cell stocks and/or equipment; Ordering and maintaining inventories of supplies, and/or equipment; May be required to perform animal venipuncture (appropriate education is required). performing cross-functional duties as assigned, or requested; performing other duties related to and consistent with the job classification, as required.
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Science, or recognized equivalent in a science or health related discipline; A Master’s degree preferred.
At a minimum 3 years lab related experience.
Experience with cell culture methods essential.
Experience with lentiviral transduction an asset.
Experience with flow cytometry an asset.
Experience in molecular genetics techniques essential.
Knowledge of and experience with the theory and application of next-generation sequencing platforms an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment and special techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills essential.
Effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Must be computer literate in Windows and Mac-based applications.
