IT TRANSFORMATION

The IT Transformation initiative is one of eight UHN priority focus areas defined for 2016/17. With sponsorship from Dr. David Jaffray, EVP Technology and Innovation, the IT Transformation initiative will lay the foundation for UHN to become a digitally-enabled research hospital.

The initiative begins with addressing three key areas highlighted in an IT Assessment completed by Deloitte in fall 2015. This includes aligning all IT teams and services at UHN, improving governance with a focus on customer service, and coordinating all investments associated with technology.

The IT Transformation plan supports UHN’s journey in becoming a learning health system through the development of an enterprise-wide synergistic structure that supports clinical, education, and research needs, setting the path for innovations in digital health. With the launch of the new operating model taking place in fall 2016, the focus for IT Transformation will shift from planning to executing the change with a focus on change management, communications and implementation.

OVERVIEW

As a member of the IT Transformation Team (IT3), the Senior Project Analyst is responsible for leading simple-to-moderately complex work packages relating to the communications, engagement and change management of the IT Transformation plan. These work packages will be small-to-medium in scope and will require additional specialized knowledge in multiple disciplines across UHN relating to the different clinical, education, research and corporate functions and processes.

The Senior Project Analyst will be required to manage multiple work packages concurrently and will be responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating all aspects of these assigned work packages including monitoring the deliverables to ensure milestone and on-budget completion. The Senior Project Analyst will collaborate closely with other members of the IT Transformation Team, leaders from IT departments and clinical business units, the Executive Vice President of Innovation and Technology, Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer and the IM/IT Director. There is regular travel between UHN sites associated with this position and is dependent on work package assignment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Project Analyst is expected to:

  • Contribute to as well as manage several concurrent high visibility deliverables using Agile methods and a Design Thinking approach.

  • Ensure successful and coordinated completion of project deliverables and facilitate decision-making at all levels.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills including the ability to set priorities and lead teams through small-to-medium change initiatives.

  • Handle unusually complex problems and design innovative and creative solutions that will achieve quality process improvements by using knowledge and expertise from different functions and areas of the hospital.

  • Effectively use digital technologies to assess, evaluate and share information and expertise.

  • Control risk by managing client expectations, project scope and taking early action to identify and resolve problems.

  • Analyze and interpret complex information to deliver a solution that meets business needs.

  • Seek out opportunities to design, improve and streamline/reinvent work processes.

  • Research best practices and established frameworks on transformation activities and initiatives taking place in the technology industry today.

  • Produce high quality work on a high profile initiative and work in a sensitive environment.

  • Be flexible working in a time-compressed, highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Contribute to a team environment and be highly collaborative with team members and stakeholders.

  • Effectively build and establish relationships with key stakeholders to help solve business problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate Degree required in Health Informatics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Business or related field

  • Minimum 2 - 3 years industry experience required

  • Knowledge and experience with both agile and traditional project management principles and practices (e.g., project planning, implementation, evaluation and risk assessment) and the ability to blend them together to fit a particular project and business environment

  • Expert knowledge of Excel, ability to collect, organize and analyze large quantities of data and present the results statistically and graphically

  • Demonstrated ability to direct and manage diverse teams (e.g., clinicians, IT leaders, consultants, etc.)

  • Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills with ability to manage competing demands effectively

  • Excellent customer relations and support service skills

  • Excellent presentation skills; creativity is an asset

  • Knowledge of UHN and hospital administration is an asset

  • Well-developed interpersonal and client relationship skills

  • Excellent team building skills, listening, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills

  • Excellent budget and risk management skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience interacting with both business and IT staff
