Positon: Simulation technologist

Reports To: Director, Emergency Medicine

Status: Permanent, Part Tim (4 Hours per week)


The Simulation Technologist will provide operational support for all simulations, including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, and related multimedia. In accordance with sound educational practices, this position will be involved in needs assessments, evaluation, data collections, database development and management. The Senior Simulation Specialist provides mentorship to the Simulation Committee with respect to the development of skills and knowledge related to the use of simulation equipment, promoting equipment related departmental standards and policies and procedures and develop and implement a comprehensive Simulation Program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Run mock codes for clinical clerks, residents and departmental staff.

  • Train staff to use manikin/computers/debrief.

  • Develop and program scenarios into adult and pediatric manikins

  • Create new code scenarios

  • Assist with development and expansion of simulation center

  • Maintain current equipment and assist with purchasing of new equipment.

  • Help implement intermittent simulation events, such as conferences, or staff educational sessions.


  • Completion of high school plus minimum 1 year program in Medical Simulation, Comprehensive workshops or recognized equivalent required

  • Minimum 4 years related experience in simulation technology

  • Hospital/healthcare environment experience preferred
