Mackenzie Investments Systems Analyst in Toronto, Ontario

The Information Services division within Mackenzie Investments is accepting applications for the position of Systems Analyst. The IS division supports business units across the company, working with business users collaboratively on a variety of initiatives including: launching new products, gaining better insights into our business through data analysis, and improving day to day operations.

Reporting to the Systems Analysis Career Centre Leader, the Systems Analyst is responsible for ensuring the effective application of technology to business problems and opportunities. A Systems Analyst works closely with the Business Sponsors and Business Representatives to capture the business systems objectives, and define the business and systems requirements. This role also works with Project Managers, Systems Architects, Quality Assurance, and Software Developers in a shared responsibility for project feasibility evaluation, quality and completion.

Activities performed in the role include:

  • Eliciting, documenting and managing requirements throughout the project lifecycle (e.g. business requirements, systems requirements, usability/user experience requirements, configuration and integration requirements, data requirements, etc)

  • Eliciting, documenting and managing business, systems, functional & data analysis, logical data design/modeling, and data mapping

  • Reviewing High Level/Detail Design documents to assess and validate solution

  • Reviewing Test Strategies and Test Plans to ensure the functional quality of the solution

  • Supporting training and solution implementation activities

  • Contributing to post-implementation reviews

  • Ensuring requirements and analysis processes, best practices, and tools are known and followed

The following qualifications will assist the successful candidates in accomplishing these functions:

  • Experience in:

  • Building trust with business partners.

  • Financial services, with emphasis on investment fund record keeping/back office functions

  • Mainframe environments

  • Creating and executing SQL queries

  • Data mapping and ETL data integration

  • Implementations of Fundserv services or products

  • Applications/Technologies: FileNet

  • Tools: Sparx Enterprise Architect, Visio

  • Knowledge of

  • CRA regulations, Investment Fund industry regulations

  • IIBA and other analysis industry practices and guidelines

  • System Life Cycle Application Development methodologies

  • Minimum 5 years within a complex project/program mainframe environment

  • Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in a related field

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong planning, organization, analytical/problem solving skills

  • Resourceful, Results Oriented, Progressive, Quick Learner, and a Team Player
