CFIB Vice-President, Marketing & Communications in Toronto, Ontario

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader to take on the challenge in our Toronto Office as the Vice-President, Marketing & Communications.

In this role you will have the opportunity to lead the marketing team and be responsible for CFIB’s plan, development and implementation of all of the organization’s marketing strategies and communications for the business community, our members and CFIB colleagues. You will work with the leadership team to achieve the organization’s objectives of sales, growth and increased visibility of CFIB’s brand, while ensuring a consistent marketing message and positioning on a national basis is consistent with the overall strategic direction of senior management and Board of Governors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications plans to advance CFIB’s brand identity; broaden awareness of CFIB’s services and programs; and increase the visibility of CFIB across Canada’s independent business community.

  • Work in collaboration with CFIB’s department leads to ensure that promotional activities are effective and align with the organization’s overall marketing strategy.

  • Identify challenges and emerging risks faced by the organization, working with the leadership team and colleagues to recognize promotional opportunities and effective solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.

  • Develop and execute all elements of CFIB’s multi-channel digital marketing strategy and tactics.

  • Serve as marketing subject matter expert for the organization and ensure communications messaging is effective and consistent with brand strategy.

  • Collect, analyse and maintain solid data on campaigns performance and provide relevant quarterly reports to senior management.

  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality.


  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic marketing and communications plans and programs to advance an organization’s mission and goals.

  • 7-10 years experience in a senior management role marketing/communications role

  • Engaging and effective communicator who demonstrates excellent presentation of ideas, negotiation and communication skills.

  • Innovator with proven ability to think creatively and strategically with impeccable attention to detail, very high quality standards and principles when it comes to brand integrity.

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing digital marketing and communications strategies.

  • Excellent judgement and creative problem solving skills who has high energy and initiative, self-driven and resourceful with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Team player across all functions who works well in a collaborative and consultative work environment.

  • Demonstrated ability and comfortable in proactively building relationships with potential advertising partners.

  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.

  • A true leader with solid experience in building, mentoring and coaching an engaged and effective team

  • Interest and understanding of the small business sector and of the government is a definite asset

  • University degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related discipline

  • Bilingual, French and English, is a definite asset
