We are currently seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer / Junior Fire Protection Engineer to complement our skilled team.   • Use AutoCAD to create and design building mechanical drawings for projects in the MEAS department;

  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with the project team;

  • Document study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events;

  • Provide direction to project team members, support staff through verbal and written instructions and assign work to appropriate individuals;

  • Identify discrepancies in drawings and information; resolve discrepancies through appropriate methods and channels;

  • Review drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy;

  • Perform changes, additions and/or revisions as required;

  • Provide technical judgment;

  • Prepare site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients;

  • Review shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability;

  • Signs and seals professional work; and

  • There will be occasional field work and minimal travel requirements.

  • Diploma in Mechancial Engineering or equivalent education

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD operation and design working on building projects

  • Knowledge of Fire Protection Design and regulated codes

  • Experience working on mechanical projects

  • Knowledge of Canadian provincial and Federal Building Codes

  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD
