What can you expect in the Paralegal position?
As the Paralegal, you can expect to take on a broad range of responsibilities to support the Westport legal department. You will have the opportunity to partner with key executives across a variety of departments including C-Suite, IP, Engineering, Supply Chain, HR and much more. In this position growth and development is guaranteed, and you can expect that no two days will be the same as each day will come with a new set of diverse challenges. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Preparing and managing a Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), creating the NDA, negotiating the agreement as instructed by legal counsel, managing the different contacts (internally & externally) and finalization
Creating and maintaining both digital and physical files for all legal documents
Acting as the first point of contact for internal legal queries and requests
Updating the contracts database and helping manage deadlines and expiry dates
Maintaining corporate records across all global subsidiaries, including liaising with external counsel
Coordinating and facilitating corporate compliance related matters across multiple jurisdictions
Managing the set up and maintenance of virtual data rooms for large scale transactions
Coordinating and assisting with due diligence efforts
Facilitating the approval process for all invoices from external counsel
Interacting with all levels of the company and liaising with external parties
Assisting in the authentication of documents for different countries
Other general administrative tasks including preparation of expense reports and coordinating signatures for agreements
What background will make you successful?
Ideal candidates will have a Paralegal certificate or diploma or possess an equivalent combination of courses and work related experience
Minimum 5 years of clerical experience in a fast paced legal or office environment
Experience with contracts and familiarity with legal terminology
Knowledge of databases
Excellent communicator – Excels at all forms of communication and able to communicate with people from various cultures in global offices around the world
Adaptable – Flexibility is required in this position; you must be able to adjust to changing priorities and frequent workload fluctuations
Outstanding organizational skills – You are efficient and have impeccable follow through with tasks
Detail oriented – superior attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast paced envrionment with a high level of accuracy
Strong critical thinking skills – you are analytical and constantly challenging the status quo
