The Amazon Web Service(AWS) Cost Explorer team is looking for a passionate and product-minded Software Development Manager to help drive innovation with a highly visible, customer facing application that is continuing to enjoy an incredible rate of adoption within AWS.

Cost Explorer provides analytics, reporting and other tools utilizing technologies like Angular and D3.js (data visualizations), backed by Scala services that process billions of transactions via Spark and NoSQL datastores. In addition to supporting these features, you will need expertise in defining APIs for both internal and external customers.

This role requires ownership, autonomy, and an ability to deliver results. You should be a self-starter with a bias towards independent problem solving. Clear communication and prioritization will be important as you partner with Product Management to plan, design, and deliver the best experience for millions of customers. Your passion for the potential of computing to improve people’s lives, and proven experience managing complex technology projects will help you make strong business judgments.   • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline

  • 5+ years of experience as a software developer

  • 3+ years experience as a people manager

  • Experience with OOD and object oriented languages

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Deep understanding of REST principles

  • Distributed systems expertise

  • Background with public API definition

  • Background with both relational and NoSQL data stores

  • Proven track record of building and managing high performing engineering teams.

  • Passion for people management and mentorship.

  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions

  • Passion and convictions and the innate ability to inspire passion in others, and the ability to establish and sell the business and technical vision for a complicated problem area
