Strategic Human Resources business partner focused on delivering effective solutions in multiple retail store environments. Human Resources professional responsible for‎ ‎managing the effective implementation and execution of all HR initiatives, policies and practices through: change management, talent management, performance management, recruitment and selection and associate engagement practices. Provide human resource tools, education, guidance and counseling to management and associates.


  • Conduct regular visits to all units. Review Human Resource (HR) practices and activities to ensure policies and processes are consistent and adhered to. Assess indicators and measures to identify gaps, priorities and progress. Meet with unit management/business leaders, HR support staff and associates to identify and discuss any HR related issues and develop solutions.

  • Support area/business management in proactively planning and implementing ‘people’ solutions to meet business needs. Provide regular updates, rational and recommendations to Business Capability or Field HR Director to address current and pending issues. Collaborate with Business Capability or Field HR Director on more serious issues e.g. terminations to ensure ‘due diligence’ has been exercised etc. Assist with recruitment activities as necessary (ie. resume screening, phone screens). Provide coaching, counseling and guidance to area/business management to facilitate the effective implementation of ‘people’ solutions. Actively coach area/business leaders with respect to performance management such as setting goals, providing feedback. Consult and collaborate with area/business management, on a day to day basis, regarding the ongoing execution of HR policies, programs and processes e.g. resolving Attendance Management issues, policy/ practice interpretation, coordination and participation in Job Fairs etc.

  • Manage and effectively implement HR initiatives, programs and policies within assigned business/geographical area. Collaborate with Business Capability or Field HR Director to develop action plans to facilitate the delivery and training of HR Programs e.g. Attendance Management Program, Performance Management Program, Base Pay Process, etc. Review and revise current training presentations. Deliver/facilitate workshops to unit/business management, and be fully accountable for Manager training, and ensuring maximum knowledge transfer to people managers during training sessions. Monitor and gather feedback from area/business management on the effectiveness of training sessions and provide feedback and recommendations to Business Capability or Field HR Director.

  • Provide counsel and respond to associate concerns in areas such as career development and opportunities, Associate Assistance Program, Performance Management, Compensation and Benefit issues, associate relations issues, etc.

  • Create a working environment that is consistent with the philosophy and goals of Sears Canada and ensure that HR staff are properly trained and developed. Act as a coach, mentor and facilitator to HR staff and assist in the development and sustainment of a supportive team environment. Provide feedback towards performance assessments for HR staff. Participate in the effective resolution of work performance issues with respect to HR staff. Provide clear expectation/performance measures and meaningful feedback. Recognize and reward achievements.

  • Work in compliance with all laws and regulations and attend or complete all required health and safety training, report all accidents and take every precaution reasonable to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. Perform other duties as required.

    • 18 months of experience in a supervisory role

    • Experience in the retail industry is an asset

    • University degree in Human Resources or Business Administration

  • HR Designation is an asset (CHRM, CHRP)
