Cara Operations Manager, Franchising in Vaughan, Ontario

Cara Operations Limited is actively searching for a Manager, Franchising to join our Franchising team.

This position’s primary function involves the recruitment for new franchisees and working with existing franchisees in the development of new restaurants, transfer of existing franchised location and sale of Cara corporate restaurants for all Cara’s franchise branded restaurant concepts.

As the ideal candidate your main duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Handle all inquiries (phone, email and social media) from potential franchisees within territory.

  • Develop and execute a recruitment strategy targeted against single store and multi-unit franchisees/area developers for new store development, based on real estate Trade Area Strategy.

  • Full recruitment responsibility for pre-described geographic territory.

  • Manager franchisee to franchisee transfers & corporate sales with geographic territory

  • Lead the process of selling a franchisee a particular opportunity, once real estate secures the site. Also proactively build a pipeline of new candidates for sites identified through the Trade Area Strategy

  • Coordinate the progression of franchise candidates through interview, due diligence, in restaurant evaluation and approval stage

  • Manage the collection, preparation and execution of related franchise agreements and documentation

  • Provide advice and input to senior management on franchising issues and new franchise candidate

  • Sourcing, screening and interviewing of potential franchisees and related approval and sales processes

  • Attend conferences, seminars and meetings to keep current on pertinent brand and industry franchising issues

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of company franchise sales programs on an ongoing basis and recommend changes/improvements

  • Support the growth of existing franchisee development through the sharing of Trade Area Strategy

  • Liaising with various internal contacts including Real Estate, Brand Operations, Finance, Legal, and Construction Departments

  • Manage the financing relationship with key lenders, and ensure for a smooth financing process for new/existing franchisees once a location has been awarded.

Some challenges you could face in this role may include:

  • Balance the need to grow the number of franchise restaurants with quality franchisees who are committed to delivering on brand plans/proposition

  • Source franchisee that will uphold Cara standards while achieving target performance results.

  • Including thorough financial validation of incoming franchisees financial capabilities

  • Balancing competing priorities and demands

Required skills:

  • Strong business acumen - Advanced organizational, analytical, adaptable and coordination skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Personable, articulate, results driven and can work in a fast-paced environment

  • Contract negotiation and management experience

  • Ability to develop relationships quickly with both internal stakeholders, new franchise candidates and existing franchisee

  • 2-5 years’ experience in Sales or Recruitment (Franchising experience an asset)

  • University degree

  • Work is performed in a typical office environment

  • Frequent conflicting work demands from multiple sources

  • Frequent periods of concentration to analyze requirements and identify options and solutions

  • Occasional unexpected work demands, changes to deadlines on short notice and tight time pressures Travel throughout Canada is required approximately 30%
