Parsons Corporation Inspector in Victoria, Canada
Working under the supervision of the Project Manager and Contract Administrator on roadway, highway, and bridge construction projects for the Ministry of Transportation and local municipalities. Often times will work with minimal supervision to perform the most difficult and complex inspection tasks to assess adherence to construction contract documents, OPSS standards and specifications. Document onsite construction activities relating to non-conformances, labour and material, safety, and quality control implementation. Complete daily construction diaries relating to the monitoring of asphalt, concrete, electrical, environmental, traffic, and grading construction items. Perform all work in a safe manner and is cognizant of public safety.
Conduct daily inspections to determine contractor adherence and conformance with contract specifications and may include the following:
-Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental regulations.
-Maintaining detailed diaries and photographs to document daily construction activities.
-Conduct inspection as per applicable inspection requirements, such as the Ministry's Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual.
-Coordination of onsite sub-consultants and quality assurance material testing.
-Reporting of installed quantities to verify applications for monthly payment and change order work.
-Maintains office files related to the project, quantity calculations, and other documentation as required by the construction contract.
Qualifications (Preferred Education / Experience)
-Degree or Diploma in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, and/or combination of related experience -P.Eng registered, or CETT registered Road Construction Senior Inspector (rcsi)
-2 years of experience in construction inspection with the local ministry
-2 transportation projects
-Knowledge of the requirements of the Ministry of Transportation Construction Administration and Inspection Task Manual (CAITM) -Knowledge of applicable design standards, OPS specifications, standard drawings, and quality control / quality assurance material testing methods.
-Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to utilize computer software such as MS Word and Excel -Must provide own transportation to and from job site.
-Valid Class “G” driver’s license.
