Job Title: Advanced Practice Physiotherapist, Integrated Spine Clinic
Work Site: Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, BC
Status: Temporary Full Time, to approx. JAN 08, 2018
Start Date: JAN 09, 2017
Salary: $32.53 - $40.59 per hour
Hours: 0800-1600, Monday to Friday
Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and the vision and values of the organization, the Advanced Practice Physiotherapist (APP) acts as the first point of contact for consultation and assessment of patients referred to the Integrated Spine Clinic at Vancouver General Hospital. The Advanced Practice physiotherapist will be part of a pilot to create a multidisciplinary team with spine surgeons, medical practitioners to address the needs of patients with low back pain issues. The physiotherapist will be the first and primary point of contact for the consultation and physical assessment of back pain patients. Through the utilization of decision support tools to assist in the triage of referred patients, the physiotherapist will provide patients with timely access to assessment and a shared-care management plan that emphasizes patient education and self-management strategies. These plans are developed with consultation of a surgical team member as required.
Education & Experience :
Degree in Physiotherapy.
Current full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC. (CPTBC).
Five (5) years’ clinical experience including three (3) years’ clinical experience in the musculoskeletal-spine area.
Successful completion of the ISAEC training module and a relevant diagnostic imaging course.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy theory, and practice within a client and family centred model.
Comprehensive knowledge of evidence-based physiotherapy practice
Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation
Comprehensive knowledge of the standards and guidelines established by the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
Comprehensive knowledge of legislation as pertaining to physiotherapy practice
Comprehensive knowledge of applicable VCH clinical practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Broad knowledge of indications for surgery and risks/benefits for surgery and the differentiation between inflammatory and non-inflammatory conditions.
Comprehensive knowledge of related clinical decision making tools
Comprehensive knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
Comprehensive knowledge of knowledge translation process and methodology.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with (both verbally and in writing), and to deal effectively with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies.
Demonstrated ability to function as an effective team member, mentor, coach and facilitator
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unanticipated events.
Demonstrated ability to guide others in practice changes and updates
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
