JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

  • Skate Canada certification: Completed Senior Bronze Free skate and/ or Silver skills and/or Senior Bronze dances.

  • Valid Emergency First Aid / CPR B certification that is 565 approved (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross Society, St. John’s Ambulance or the Canadian Ski Patrol)

  • PHCD (Principles of Healthy Child Development) or High Five Sport certification.

  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication, leadership, customer service, organization and planning.

  • Ability to interact with a diversity of patrons/parents and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

  • Ability to adjust coaching techniques based on the strength and weaknesses of participants.

  • Must like working with children and adults.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to skate at the level required for instruction

  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Records Search that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct various levels of the City of Mississauga Skating program

  • Prepare daily lesson plans.

  • Teach basic to advanced skating skills to program participants through group and private lessons.

  • Prepare equipment and start program according to schedule.

  • Supervise and evaluate skating participants.

  • Ensure the continuing safety of all participants while on the ice.

  • Responsible for assisting with the delivery or warm-ups and cool-down segments in each class.

  • Perform administrative program functions pertaining to the operation of the classes.

  • Perform various other duties as assigned.

Availability: Weekday Evenings & Weekends

Hourly Rate: $20.73 - $22.69
