IKEA IKEA Food Coworker - Restaurant (Part-time) in Canada

Your Mission:

  • Contribute to a positive experience for our customers/coworkers by preparing and serving food according to the IKEA Food Concept to strengthen IKEA’s position as the best home furnishing store and the best retailer to work for

Your Goals:

  • Provide fast, friendly & efficient personal service to all customers on the serving line
  • Observe all Health/Food Safety regulations for proper food handling, personal hygiene & proper use of all equipment.
  • Ensure your uniform is clean, neat and meets both IKEA and the Health/Safety guidelines.
  • Check food temperatures at regular intervals to ensure proper food safety.
  • Always follow the follow IKEA’s “8 Steps (guidelines) to Good Food Service” with each customer and offer appropriate add-on items to improve the dining experience.
  • Prepare hot food following IKEA’s hot food concept profile
  • Maintain food preparation standards
  • Communicate information to the customer on hot entrees and other foods and service offered in the Restaurant
  • Inform manager of any safety hazards or equipment hazards
  • Clean and maintain equipment according to equipment cleaning standards set
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA Culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of coworkers and customers
  • Assume responsibility for other tasks and projects as they occur

You Have:

  • Proactive and courteous customer approach
  • Ability to operate ovens, grills, stoves, steam tables, fryers, and other electrical equipment
  • Ability to work with knives, slicers, mixers, and other food preparation equipment
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. (22.7 kg)

Your Workplace:

  • High volume, fast-paced food service/retail environment
  • Continuous receptive hand motions; standing for periods of time
  • Cafeteria-style serving environment
  • Working with cleaning compounds, soaps, and chemicals
  • Hours of work include Weekdays, Evenings, Saturday, Sunday, and Statutory holidays; full evening and weekend availability is a must
