Town of Richmond Hill Operator lll - Roads in Canada

(40 Hour Work Week)

Schedule:

November to April – Thursday to Monday, 3:30 p.m. to midnight

May to October – Monday to Friday, 3:30 p.m. to midnight

Reporting to the Supervisor of Roads & Traffic Operations, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of Town road infrastructure and operation of equipment. The duties will include but are not limited to: manhole and catch basin repairs; curb and sidewalk construction; hot mix patching; sidewalk and road winter maintenance; road patrol; traffic control; vehicle maintenance; assist other Sections or Departments as required. Associated responsibilities include the supervision of small work crews, maintenance and completion of legible records, investigating and assisting with follow-ups to enquiries from the public. All duties must be performed in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Town policies, procedures and practices. Standby and shift work are mandatory for this position, in accordance with the provisions contained in the C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement.

♦High school diploma or equivalent ♦Ontario Class "DZ" driver license in good standing and must provide a satisfactory current driver's abstract from the MTO ♦Demonstrated experience in construction and maintenance of roadways ♦Demonstrated experience and knowledge of equipment for the sanding and plowing of roads and sidewalks ♦Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification is required ♦Demonstrated ability to prepare and keep records ♦General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act ♦Physically and medically able and competent to perform the physical demands of this position under adverse weather and site conditions ♦Ability to work shifts and meet the mandatory requirements of "standby" in accordance with the provisions of the CUPE Collective Agreement and Town Policies ♦The shifts and hours are subject to change at management’s discretion in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement ♦The successful candidate will also be required to pass a vulnerable sector check within one month of commencing the position. This position is a member of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (C.U.P.E).
