Sheridan College PeopleSoft Technical Support Specialist – Financial Systems (part-time) in Canada

Reporting directly to the Director, IT Project Management Office (PMO), and the Specialist is a key member of the Project team. This role is part of a team that designs, develops, implements and maintains an integrated set of software systems to support Sheridan’s administrative operations. The incumbent performs technical analysis and development for application enhancements, interfaces, fixes, maintenance packs and upgrades. The core PeopleSoft systems are Campus Solutions (CS), Finance, Human Capital Management (HCM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) with numerous related smaller systems. The Specialist’s primary responsibility is the PeopleSoft Financial Management System.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Assessing and analyzing requests for enhancements and modifications to the existing PeopleSoft Financial System;

  • Recommending possible solutions based on the existing systems and modules as well as the available technologies;

  • Developing implementation strategies, including testing procedures;

  • Write advanced Java Script functions and build coding from the ground up; Developing/modifying PeopleSoft Financial Management and Student Financial modules;

  • Hands on experience designing, developing and testing HCM bolt-ons, interfaces and customizations using PeopleSoft Application Engine, SQR and PeopleCode;

  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft modules including Approval Workflow Engine (AWE), and Reporting Tools such as BI Publisher;

  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable & Banking (including Financial Gateway), Vendor Onboarding, and Travel and Expense modules, an asset;

  • Proficiency in Absence Management (AM) module and WorkCenter, an asset;

  • Previous experience upgrading to HCM v9.2, preferably in a Canadian college environment would be considered an asset;

  • Providing senior technical support to maintain the existing corporate systems; troubleshooting system and application issues; investigating and diagnosing application problems and developing a plan for correcting problems;

  • Documenting solutions for resolved issues and following-up with project team to ensure complete closure of issues; and

  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a 3 year diploma/degree in Computer Science or Information Technology related field along with a minimum of 8 years of structured systems design and development experience in an Oracle/PeopleSoft environment using relational databases (ideally Oracle), including 2 years of business analysis experience (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). Experience with the following is necessary: PeopleSoft Financials development (preferably v9.2); People Tools 8.53 or later; Integration Broker and Application Engine; PeopleSoft system upgrades; Applying patches, bundles and maintenance packs; Financial cross-module and integration points; Java Script; Traditional programming (no libraries); executing SQL and SQR programs (preferably in a Oracle environment). The incumbent must have excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with both technical and non-technical individuals. Also required are excellent problem solving and analytical skills, initiative, the ability to multi-task effectively, work as a team member and independently.
