ON Semiconductor Senior RF Designer in Waterloo, California

ON Semiconductor’s Medical & Wireless products division requires an enthusiastic, technically skilled, and highly organized individual to work as part of the Hardware and Systems team on the development activities for our wireless products. Our products are designed for several key markets including audio, medical and wireless. As a Senior RF design engineer, the incumbent will be expected to be current in the state of the art design methods and be active in developing and improving our design process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop RF system requirement for internally developed wireless devices.

  • Develop RF/Wireless/Antenna measurement setup for measurements of parameters for a wireless system.

  • Perform detailed RF analysis on wireless systems.

  • Perform matching circuit design and simulations including layout effects to support customer’s and internally developed systems.

  • Analyze and report performance metrics.

  • Participate in Layout and design Review RF systems.

  • Validate RF system conformance to regulatory requirements such as FCC/CE, etc.

  • Mentorship of less experienced engineers.


  • Minimum a Bachelor degree in electrical/computer engineering or equivalent, Master or higher is preferred.

  • 3-6 years of direct design experience in industry pertaining to RF system designs.

  • Advanced knowledge of RF engineering, antenna parameters and designs, matching circuits, and RF PCB layout best practices.

  • Advanced experience in RF deembedding techniques for accurate impedance measurement.

  • Advanced knowledge of RF measurement equipment and technics.

  • Advanced knowledge of RF circuit and EM simulators (ADS, HFSS or others Software tools).

  • Able to understand and design RF systems that would meet regulatory and other applicable RF regulation, such as FCC, ETSI, BTSIG, etc.

  • Knowledge of Bluetooth and Bluetooth low energy, NFC protocols are desired.

  • Knowledge of embedded software development for wireless communication is desired.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
